Berry-Banana Overnight Oats

Friday, June 6, 2014

I've been wanting to try this for a while and recently ran across an easy-enough recipe, so last night I mixed together overnight oats for a quick, simple breakfast/snack for today. This particular recipe is from here. I know, I know, it's national donut day but not sure that's happening here at Chateau Deveau this year..? I'm sure I'll get my fill from Instagram and other bloggers. :)

Berry-Banana Overnight Oats
makes 1 serving
1/2 cup oats
1/2 cup yogurt
1/2 cup milk
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 tablespoon agave nectar or other sweetener
2 strawberries
1/2 banana
1/4 cup blueberries

Scoop the oats into a Mason jar then add the yogurt and milk.

Follow with the agave nectar and chia seeds, stir the mixture.

Chop the strawberries and banana into small pieces and add to the jar.

Add the blueberries and gently stir. Place the lid of the mason jar on and twist the ring around, making sure it is sealed tightly.

Shake the jar and place in the refrigerator overnight. Enjoy as an easy breakfast in the morning.

**As always, I made the following changes:
I doubled the recipe to make two jars/servings
I used one strawberry-banana Chobani Greek yogurt and split between the two jars, so it probably wasn't quite 1/2 cup each
Honey instead of agave
Didn't have any bananas on hand so I just skipped that
This morning the jars were easy to grab and go (and cute). The oats seemed a little thick/sticky (I probably didn't add quite enough milk), but I really liked it!! Tyson seemed to enjoy a few bites as well. Once at work, the Mr. texted, 'This oatmeal is awesome! Thanks.' So that my friends, is a win/win/win.
Have a wonderful weekend!!
