That's a Wrap

And just like that, six weeks have come and gone. My maternity leave is over.
Work wise, it seems I've been gone forever--as I'm sure the piles and catching up once back in the office will prove; however, personally this time has flown by!! The Thursday afternoon our little girl came seems as vivid and recent as last week. It just seems we've been on the go since she got here..
(I hope to recap some particular events soon, but..) Looking back I'm not sure where the time has gone. It was quite the adjustment on us all as we figured out how to not only be a family of four, but as I played temporary-stay-at-home-mom with a toddler and a newborn. We were diving into the holiday season, meeting with family and friends, and trying to enjoy those first special days/weeks with our brand new little girl. It has been memorable, special, challenging, and overwhelming; and it's flown by.
Such is life, once you think you're getting it figured out and settling into place, everything changes, again. Today I head back to work. Thank the Lord for my wonderful and flexible job - I'm able to bring Homegirl with me for four weeks until she starts at daycare. I am still flooded with many emotions.. I've done it before and I know people do it everyday, but I can't lie - I'm a little anxious and pray it's a smooth transition, I keep my sanity, and everyone continues to survive adjust. Any tips/advice on working with baby in the office..?
So.. I ain't too proud to beg - I need all the prayers, support, and encouragement I can get as I head back to work this week and figure out this next stage in our lives.. (And I'll be asking for them again in four weeks when Homegirl heads to daycare... Cue the waterworks.)

  1. Will be praying for you and your family during this adjustment! I am still in disbelief that women are expected to return to work at 6 weeks post partum in the US. You guys need to fight for more than that! We have the entire first year, and although the pay isn't amazing, it's enough to get by and spend that precious time with our babies.

    1. Thank you!! Yes, it is a very quick leave. I saw a report on YouTube and they give their employees 18 week paid leave - I was impressed with that; a year, yes that would be awesome (and also very hard to go back after also, I'm sure)!! Thankfully we have a wonderful child care situation (come time) and we make the most of our evenings and weekends together. :)

  2. ahh I feel like this was just yesterday for me and Pake is 9 months old...It goes sooo fast :'(. I had 9 weeks (waiting for daycare to open) so several of those days worked with him in my office at the bank. It was hard here because people wanted to come in and out a lot and he never got to sleep! Hopefully you have a quiet spot :) How awesome you can bring her with you and make the transition a little less abrupt. Do you have a rock n play? That was such a lifesaver for Pake and super easy to fold up and take anywhere! Will be praying for you during this time and hope to see you guys soon!!! XOXO

    1. Thank you Thea!! :) So fast..!! Yes, I need some better options for H while at the office, I feel bad having her just on the floor or in her car seat all day. But I have an awesome wrap so I plan to wear her occasionally too. Might need to look for some type of rocker/chair thing.

  4. Oh girl, I had no idea! I hope your first day went well! What a blessing that your office is so wonderful and lets you bring her with you to work. That would have been SO awesome. Tyson looks like he is adjusting well to being a big brother and loving on Harper as much as possible! I just love the smiles on his face! Hope you all are doing well and adjusting well also and getting a little sleep at least sometimes :)
Although I have no idea on working with an infant in the work place, email me anytime! I'm here for you!

    1. I know, right?! I couldn't believe it myself as I was looking ahead at the calender during Thanksgiving..!! It really is a great situation with the flexibility, but still makes it hard to get work done. Haha Tyson is such a great big brother, I am looking forward to watch them grow up together and even more so once she can start interacting with him!! You're the sweetest, thank you so much for the support!! :)
