Now You Know

A few bullet points to follow-up on our big news.
First, thank you for your sweet comments!!
I'm not exactly a 'butterflies and rainbows' kind of person, especially when it comes to pregnancy, and change is hard for me. So having people share in this excitement with us definitely helps me embrace this BIG change.
So, thank you thank you.
  • I'm 24 weeks along.
  • It's a girl. I'm a little in shock and overwhelmed about this, it's still sinking in. :) Please share, you girl moms, I feel like I haven't a clue..?!?! I'm scared of pink. :)
  • This pregnancy has been a little different from the first. More on this soon..
  • We took a bit longer before sharing the news this go around for a few reasons (and then again it's just how it happened to be).
    • With my sister expecting and due a month before us with her first, I felt sensitive to not take anything from her and their excitement and sharing the news so we put off sharing our news a little because of that.
    • We are always cautious before sharing, beyond family and close friends, to ensure things are progressing along safely.
    • Then it had been a while and we figured we'd just wait until we found out the gender and then share.
    • I had a little anxiety about sharing because it's just such a private and special thing (and a few instances surrounding us sharing had been less than exciting) so I was a just a little discouraged about it.
    • Trying to take some pictures for an announcement wasn't really going as I had imagined so again I just felt discouraged and let down.
    • Then I realized how sweet and supportive this blogging community seems to be and then I got really excited to share with these new friends.
    • Then our computer crashed the night before I wanted to post the news and I felt like it was a sign..
    • I know, so dramatic. Blame the hormones.
  • Due date is October 19th.
  • She's a mover (and strong)..!!
  • Tyson loves to holler 'hi sisterr' at my belly and it's the cutest thing I've ever seen.
I'm just so thankful for the support, encouragement and excitement we have received. It's good for me and I need that as we figure our way through this next chapter in our lives. We'd gladly accept any and all prayers for a continued safe and healthy pregnancy and baby.

Six Years

Friday, June 27, 2014

Today the Mr. and I are celebrating six years of marriage. It's hard to believe--as moments and memories of first meeting, dating, getting engaged and our wedding day seem as fresh and vivid as just the other day. However, the pictures prove we were quite younger and the events along the way show how much we've done, how far we've come and what has been achieved. It hasn't always been an easy journey but it's been worth it and the happy moments overshadow anything less.
I look forward to many more years together and gladly welcome whatever life will be throwing at us, and that's only because of the guy next to me.

There is no one that makes me happier, more proud and content.
You truly are my best friend and I am honored to be your wife.
Happy Anniversary, my love!!
We are off to enjoy a little weekend getaway and Colorado Brewers' Festival!!

Have a great weekend!!

Tyson is going to be a big brother!!
 Baby girl coming October 2014.

Just when I thought I was getting the hang of this boy mom stuff.. We are excited/scared/nervous and so happy to be welcoming baby #2 to our family.

Linking up with Sadie Sky Boutique and Words About Waverly (a day late thanks to a computer crash..).

Guitar Duo

Monday, June 23, 2014

That's right, more pictures of these cute guys playing their guitars.. Even though we go to some amazing venues and see legends, this in-home concert was pretty dang amazing.
I think we have a little performer on our hands - I was enjoying my front row seat and Tyson would get up and walk towards me just far enough to lean out and 'tease the crowd' then head back to his stool to play some more..
When they play together, I love how Tyson will glance over and watch his Dad's hands to see what he's doing and how he's playing. Then there's always a glance up to his face, followed by a cute little grin.
Watching these two together never gets old.

Hope you had a great weekend!!

Date Night with JT

Thursday, June 19, 2014

No, not Justin Timberlake, you youngins!! James Taylor!!

Along with a sold out audience of baby boomers, the Mr. and I had an awesome date night to see the singer-songwriter perform at Red Rocks. We arrived in a downpour, enjoyed a candlelit dinner of Chick-Fil-A in the car then it stopped raining just in time. The weather was calm and crisp and the view was spectacular. The vibrant rainbow wasn't too bad either.
We started the 'hike' up from parking to the amphitheater.
Red Rocks is located near Morrison, west of Denver. It's an open-air amphitheater and is most definitely one of a kind. Behind the stage is a panoramic view of Denver. We've been fortunate to see a handful of concerts here; artists always comment how THIS is the place to be and perform, it really seems to be a favorite for musicians and spectators alike.
The rock formations on either side are gorgeous and impressive.
I totally get cell phones are the new cameras, but I was blown away and cracked up at how many old people we saw taking cell phone selfies. It was too funny. We obviously were doing it too, but something about 50+ year olds doing it is different.. :)
James Taylor sounded amazing live!! He was funny, interacted with the crowd and talked about the stories behind some of his songs.
The best part was some quality time with my all-time favorite.
The place is really cool once it gets dark and the rocks are lit up. The lighting off in the distance behind the stage added some cool highlights also.
Making our way through the crowds once the show was over wasn't too bad as it moved along quickly. However, our wrong turn led us back to the stage where Mr. Taylor was still signing autographs and shaking hands. We said hi and kept on moving. :)
It was a great night and I know a dream of the Mr.'s especially to see this icon live. I'm so glad we were able to make it and have a special evening together!! It was so worth staying up way past my bedtime..

Weekend Fun

Monday, June 16, 2014

This weekend we were lucky enough to have my parents stay with us Friday and Saturday. We celebrated my Mom's birthday and then Father's Day. We always enjoy our time together and Tyson especially loves the extra attention. :)

We hit up the zoo Friday afternoon which ended up being a perfect time to go as we beat weekend crowds and caught some afternoon clouds to keep us cool. We went a few times last year, but it was so fun this visit as Tyson seemed to really 'get it', he was so excited to see the animals!!
They have an awesome, interactive giraffe exhibit where you get up close and personal!! You can feed them lettuce and pet them, it's very cool.
My mom is the greatest, love this - capturing a selfie with a giraffe, and a kiss..!! :)
Oh Tyson loves his Papa, they have such a special bond. Since Tyson was a baby, people have commented on their resemblance. Watching them together is so special to me, I was so happy we got in time together this weekend as we celebrated how special he is to us!!
My SIL and her family met us at the zoo also; of course the cousins had a blast running around together.
We got a season pass so we're looking forward to many more visits to the zoo this summer!!

It was a gorgeous weekend - we enjoyed time outside, chasing/tickling each other with 'trees', playing with trucks and hanging in the tree.
Little monkey. Don't ask about biting the tree (he did this on his own..)?!?! :)
Fun with Papa!! Look at those smiles, they make me so happy. :)
We had such a great time and were happy to have Grandma and Papa for a few days. They are such a blessing to us in so many ways and we're glad to be close enough to do this often.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed celebrating those dads special to you!!

That's just my baby daddy..

Sunday, June 15, 2014

And by just my baby daddy, I mean one of the most amazing men ever.

I knew Dan would be an amazing father from the get-go. He constantly took care of me and helped calm all my 'crazy' and just seemed to be a natural as we prepared to become parents. I said from day one that I hoped our little boy would be just like him and I am so proud and happy that Tyson is like his Dad in so many ways..

I am proud of their bond and of Dan for being such a respectful, responsible and loving Dad.

Happy Father's Day, Dan -

Although big and strong, you are so gentle and tender to our baby. The past year has been full of so many wonderful and special memories, all thanks to you.  (First Father's Day 2013)
You already have taught Tyson so many things, you are a patient and loving teacher and have so much to offer Tyson.
You are spontaneous and such an explorer and I see Tyson growing into a very adventurous little boy and I know you are his inspiration. While always guiding us to our next adventure, you constantly have our safety and well-being in mind, all while providing exciting moments and memories.
You are so generous and hard-working and provide us with such a wonderful life.
You can always make Tyson smile and giggle like I've never heard him laugh before. I know he loves you so much and loves to be around you.
You are so gentle and compassionate, you provide such a safe-haven for our family and I am so grateful Tyson has such a wonderful example of how to be a man/husband/father.
You are so smart and I love your high expectations and hopes for Tyson. You are excellent at turning fun and play into learning moments for him.
You always go out of your way to make us feel special and show us your love in unexpected, surprising ways.
I absolutely love that Tyson has a passion for the guitar just like you.
I know he will be a loyal and dedicated worker, just like the impressive work ethic you have.
I could take pictures of you two all day, you both melt my heart and make me so happy.
Thank you for reading to Tyson, even if it's the same book over and over.
Thank you for helping not be afraid to try new things.
 Thank you for crazy-fun playtime.
Thank you for being so athletic and passing those genes (apparent already) on to our boy.
 Thank you for being there.

I think these pictures speak for themselves - you are an involved, fun and loving Father. I couldn't ask for anything more for Tyson (and for me). You have always been such a rock for me and I know our family will continue to count on you for years to come. I know the year head will bring many many more memories, there is no one else we'd want to share them with.

Thank you for all you do. We love you. Happy Father's Day!!

xoxo,
Momma & Tyson
