A week without the Mr...

..is like a frigid winter day.
Cold and lonely. We started out our week alone with at least 8"+ of snow.
We tried to stay cozy-warm inside, but I woke up really cold in the wee hours of the morning to a 62 degree house. Brrrr. Our furnace had shut down and wasn't staying on without being 'reset' every hour or so. We are thankful for safe travels, neighbors who cleared our driveway once for us, and a furnace that didn't need replaced in the Mr.'s absence.
..is like a shot in the leg.
Literally. For poor Homegirl. It just so happened that snow-packed, chilly morning was when I had scheduled her 4-month appointment. 'Earliest appointment available, please.' What was I thinking?! We made it on time, she passed her check-up with flying colors, but broke her momma (and big brother's) heart when she got her shots and let out a big cry.
..is a week of endless selfies.
As always, we had fun snapping pics to send to the Mr. each morning before unloading at daycare. It's funny to see how that back seat has changed compared to the last week without the Mr. we blogged about..
..is never over fast enough.
We are so happy to have the Mr. home!! There's no better welcome then an adorable little boy running to jump in your arms, hollering, 'Daddddyyyyyy!!' in the airport lobby.

  1. It's so sweet to see how excited they get when Daddy's is home, isn't it? My husband works away too every once in a while and although the weeks are usually pretty low key for Scarlett and myself, it's always really nice to see him walk in the door on Thursday evening :) I get a lot of blogging done in the evenings when Adam is away for work!

What crappy luck that your furnace crapped out while the mr was gone! Glad you didn't need to replace it though!

    1. Oh, even daily, hearing that little kid holler your name when you get home/pick them up - it's the BEST!! :) Yes, thankfully his travel isn't frequent either, so that's good.

  2. I don't know what I'd do if my husband travelled for work! He works long hours but I'm such a baby and would hate sleeping alone in the house at night! It must be nice to have your husband back home now :)

    1. If you HAD to do it, you'd surprise yourself and be just fine (because you have a little someone else to take care of)!! :) It's not something I'd wish to do on the regular though, that's for sure. The nights alone are the worst part for me too, but lately I've been so exhausted, it wasn't hard to fall asleep. Ha!!

  3. First of all, you are like super mom! Taking TWO kids to the doctors office alone. Doing your hair every morning (I am HORRIBLE at that, and I only have one kid, but I attribute mine to laziness lol). Taking care of two kids for a week. You deserve a vacation! (Or a trip to the spa... hint hint Mr.)
Second, so so sweet that T was SO excited to see daddy when he got home! I always love it when I have to work late and Mason runs to me when I come in the door :)

    1. Hahaha with short hair, I have to do something to it. :) Trust me, I do need a vacation or spa day.. HINT HINT Mr. ;)
Their genuine excitement when seeing mom and dad after anytime apart is THE BEST!! Talk about an instant confidence booster/make any bad day good. :)

  4. Oh my, a whole week would definitely be hard! Conor's travel has slowed down luckily. Although he has a business trip two weeks before & then two weeks after my due date! I'm hoping he'll be skipping those... :-)
