Year of Dates: [Birthday Date]

Tuesday, March 10, 2015

Last weekend, we celebrated the Mr.'s birthday and had our first of twelve dates (as part of the year of dates gift I gave him for his birthday).
My parents were kind enough to come and babysit, so we took the afternoon and went bowling. The Mr. had been wanting to go, so I thought it'd be the perfect afternoon activity before we headed out to dinner. We both were off work early, so we went before the Friday-night rush, and it was perfect. The Mr. beat me in all three games (in fact, one game he scored a 244, two points away from his personal best). I was impressed as we haven't gone in a long time!!
Then we headed home to change (and feed Homegirl) before dinner. Since it's Lent, we don't eat meat on Fridays, so it worked out perfectly to try out the new Bonefish Grill here in town. Even with a later reservation, the place was packed when we arrived. Thankfully we didn't have to wait long; the perfect table opened up, we were seated and enjoying ourselves in no time. Everything was great and delicious - get yourself a martini and bang bang shrimp, YUM. I didn't remember to get a picture of us or a selfie until on the way home (while at a stop with brake lights illuminating our faces).
We ended the night out with a stop by Trader Joe's and loaded up on unnecessary goodies, cause that's what you do when you're kid-free and browsing.
It was a great time celebrating the Mr. and start to our year of dates.
I'm already looking forward to next month, which happens to also be my birthday. ;)

    1. You definitely should, although I know when I was at that point I wanted to get in time as just a family of three also.
Any good TJ recommendations? We got some dark chocolate coconut almonds that are THE BEST!!

  4. So excited to hear all about your date nights!!! This one sounds perfect. Did you like Bonefish Grill? They opened one near us a couple months ago and I've been wanting to try it but I've heard mixed reviews.

    1. Yea!! Thank you for the inspiration/help, I'm so looking forward to 'us' time since it's been a little busy the last few months and we haven't made it a priority.
We had a great time and good experience at Bonefish, we thought the food was great also (I had salmon, Dan had tuna steak). I've heard people here having a not so great experience either but we've been to one in FL also and really like it too, so it might just depend on the day. If you go, I hope you like it!! (Definitely get the bang bang shrimp, delish; and definitely call ahead cause the wait is going to be ridiculous.)

    1. I know!! I'm going to look up a recipe for the sauce maybe to make at home (but there's no way it'll be as good without the crispy-fried goodness from the restaurant..)!! Sounds like a date from the 70s huh?! Haha :)
