The Guy Behind the Blog // May

Thursday, May 28, 2015

I've been wanting to do some posts including the Mr., but I'm way too lame to come up with questions on my own; so when Liz posted about Betsy's series, it was too perfect not to jump on..!!

Without further ado, Chateau Deveau's proofreader most loyal reader, my on-call photographer, my sugar/baby-daddy. The guy behind this blog - Dan the man - my Mr.
[Mr. // Me]

1 // What is your favorite family tradition?
Sunday dinner.
Tell me about it.
Every weekend we get together with my parents and whoever's family/siblings are in town, and we hang out for the afternoon and have Sunday dinner and drinks.
2 // Who's your male celebrity crush?
Really?
I don't know if that means yours or mine?
Yeah cause that's kinda weird. I don't have a male celebrity crush. Is that directed towards me?
I don't know. [LOL] I guess maybe then who is mine..?
Whoever is that Fergie's husband? Josh Duhamel?
3 // What song best sums you up?
[Scratches head]
Pretty good at drinking beer. [By Billy Currington]
4 // What three things do you think of the most each day?
[Makes three different references to my backside]
Family..
Wife, kids, beer?
Family, future, brewing.
5 // What is your most embarrassing memory?
I don't know, what do you think it would be?
I don't know.
I do a pretty good job of not putting myself in embarassing situations. I guess running into the column in college and busting my eye open.
What happened?
I just walked into a column as I was looking behind me.
What were you looking at?
[Embarrassingly chuckling] I don't remember..

We will definitely be doing this again, if nothing else but for my entertainment. :)

Linking up with Betsy.

Stitch Fix: [#1]

Tuesday, May 26, 2015

It was a great extra long weekend relaxing, spending time with family, and checking a few things off my list(s), including a first class ticket on the bandwagon.. My first Stitch Fix arrived, and I was just as nervous as I was excited!! I always love seeing what everyone else gets, so here is my first fix.

Kut from the Kloth - Denna Skinny Jean
Jeans are tough, so I didn't have high expectations for these, but I slid them on and was pleasantly surprised..!! Although this front angle isn't necessarily flattering in this picture, they are comfortable and fit nicely. Even with summer right around the corner, I can see these still getting a lot of wear; I also know it would take probably 2-3 stores and trying on at least 10+ pairs for me to find a good fit so I'm happy to have these delivered to my door.
Kept.

Tart - Kaylie Solid French Terry Blazer
I knew right off the bat this was going back. I definitely don't need another black jacket/blazer, and it just doesn't fit into my daily wardrobe any more.
Returned.

Collective Concepts - Cynthia Graphic Print Mixed Material Top
I liked the idea of this top, but the front neckline isn't my favorite. I actually already have a navy top like this with a front print/solid back, so besides not being extremely flattering, not necessary.
Returned.

Skies and Blue - Folla V-neck Knit Top
This top was a bit boxy, which is fine, and actually was longer than I expected - but for a thin, plain t-shirt - not worth $38 to me.
Returned.

41Hawthorn - Colibri Solid Tab Sleeve Blouse
This top is totally my style. The cut, length, tab sleeves. Only problem is I have a few tops like this already, even close in color, so I don't need it.. Although I do like this style/fabric a little better than what I currently have. Still deciding but will most likely return.

Overall, my first fix was mostly what I expected - some decent pieces and a few bombs. I know I need to refine my style profile and it will hopefully get even better the next go-round.
Now, hop on the wagon with me, help feed my shopping habits, and use my referral link. Please. :)

Weekend Fun: [BFFs]

Tuesday, May 19, 2015

As you probably saw on Instagram, this last weekend was filled with BFFs.
Friday night we attended a concert of one of my best friends from high school, she was like family to me. We spent countless hours at each other's houses, on the court together, in fields (farming), at youth group, and even managed to sneak in a few parties here and there.
She's now on a national tour with her band, The Lovebirds. It was great to see her and so nice to just chat - I obnoxiously bragged about my kids (complete with forcing her to watch a video on my phone). She humbly made mention of winning a competition of nearly a thousand entrants and as part of their tour, get to open for a very well-known artist. She's always been gracious, I shouldn't have expected anything less.
V, if you happen to find your way here, thank you for the blast from the past, the on-stage shout out, and giving me an 'I'm with the band' moment. I'm so proud of you and so happy to see you doing so well.

Then Saturday, I got to be hoity-toity with my BFF from college and spend the afternoon at The Broadmoor. Although only about and hour away from each other, we don't get together near enough. She introduced me to the Mr. and has been the most honest, genuine, and supportive friend as we've continued on through these new, big chapters in life.
Although we've been in high-intensity and extremely competitive arenas together, it was never competition between us. It was a natural, uplifting, and complementary friendship that outlasted the drama of collegiate athletics.
Even with the pouring rain (hence my wet poodle-hair), it was a beautiful and relaxing afternoon. Kelley, thank you for making time to come visit, pay way too much to have our toes painted, and listen to my ramblings about motherhood. I'm already scheming our next get together. Enjoy Mexico, you deserve it. Bring me back tequila a tan.

Sunny Spring Day

Wednesday, May 13, 2015

We had no where to be or nothing in particular to do.
The warmth of the sun was finally baking my bare arms, the wide-open space and fresh air was relaxing as can be.
We wondered around my parents' place and I took random pictures of my mom's beautiful garden/plants - life emerging from the brownness that has surrounded us throughout the winter months.
T explored, imagined, and entertained himself.
Something about it all felt very inspiring to me, and it was just what I needed.

Mother's Day Exchange

Thursday, May 7, 2015

Even though spoiling our little ones is an absolute joy, I was super excited to do some momma-spoiling and take part in a Mother's Day exchange, hosted by some lovely mommas - Elizabeth, Jenny, and Courtney

I received the most thoughtful box of goodies from Emily. It was so fun to open my box and see a fun (and inspiring) box within. This is absolutely perfect as I'm a hoarder of all things sentimental; I like to keep special cards, handwritten notes, etc. My current box is filled to the brim so I will be using this absolutely appropriate box now for those special treasures.
Emily was on top of it and picked up on a mention of 'mimosas'. This little bottle will be poppin' this weekend, for sure.
Emily included all things green, which is my fave. It's a pretty good bet I'll be rocking green toe nails all summer long. Hand cream can always be found on my night stand so this will be put to good use. I'm looking forward to a few laid back minutes enjoying this face mask!!
And special gluten free chocolate bars, yes please.
Emily!! Thank you thank you for such an awesome package!! :) You seriously are so sweet and thoughtful and I appreciate your kindness. I hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day with your adorable Avery. Thanks again momma!!

Jen was my match, and is a momma-to-be, expecting their first baby in July. I was immediately so excited for her as I remember the excitement surrounding that special time in life!! In haste of getting her package off, I didn't take any pictures of what I sent her, so go check Jen's instagram to see..!! I included a candle, Fit Pregnancy magazine, fun magnets, my favorite lip stuff, some mascara (because I read in an old blog post, that was her go-to-don't-leave-the-house-without-it makeup/item), some chocolate (because she's pregnant), and a few other fun goodies. It was especially fun to spoil a momma-to-be as she prepares for the most important 'job' she'll ever have..
Congratulations again, Jen!! Hope you enjoyed your goodies. :)

Thanks again ElizabethJenny, and Courtney for hosting!!
Check out their blogs for more momma fun.

First bites

Wednesday, May 6, 2015

A few weeks ago, we figured it was time to try some food with Homegirl. I hadn't been in a rush because, well, second kid.. plus she didn't really seem 'ready' before.
One Sunday, on the way home from church, T had fallen asleep (and was still napping once moved inside), so Homegirl got some 'only child' attention, and we tried some oatmeal. She was a fan, and has done well ever since with all sorts of veggies.
Homegirl has been a great eater, as her cheeks help prove to be true - even as far as protesting nursing but happy as can be once getting 'real food'.
This sweet little face, even covered with oatmeal.. I can't be mad. :)
Such a fun little first with our Homegirl!!
But I happily welcome suggestions from pumping/nursing moms - our first feeding 'back together' (suppertime feeding) is often a struggle, part she won't latch/nurse long enough and my milk won't letdown/part she wants food (may have also been part stress with the Mr.'s absence during the past few weeks).. Help.
I've also been making our own baby food, so also let me know any suggestions for inspiration, quick/easy recipes, etc.
Thanks mommas!! :)

I know, it's been pretty quiet, more like SILENT over here..

The Mr. was gone on a two-week work trip. I know, GULP. There were moments of 'survival mode' but for the most part we did just fine on our own. From what I can remember, this was as disastrous as it got.. But I think that wonderful momma-amnesia may have set in at approximately 7:40pm Friday evening when the Mr. landed and was greeted by the sweetest, 'Dadddddddyyyyyy!!'
Needless to say, it was a pretty exhausting few weeks, that conveniently coincided with an extremely overwhelming time at work, but we survived, and as always, were so happy to have daddy home.
P.S. Single parents, military spouses - God bless you.
I quickly cashed in on a family breakfast out the very next morning and we hit up one of my favorite spots, Over Easy; it was again, a delicious and perfect morning together.
The reuniting continued with cousins back in town, so we got in some quality time enjoying the beautiful weather (and new 'toy' at Grandpa & Nana's).
So, don't you worry.. ;) We are alive and well over here and ready to enjoy a margarita taco or two today.
Happy Cinco de Mayo!!
